In our TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention) training, and in visiting orphans and orphanages, its clear. Trauma exists. And its a specific kind of trauma, called Complex Trauma. We have all read in the news about adoptions that have gone bad. And this is partly the result of complex trauma. (as well as parents who were not trained and ready)
The good news is that things can be done to start reversing the trauma that has been inflicted on these little kids. One of those things is trauma therapy.
Our hearts are very much for providing trauma therapy to children as a preparation for adoption/fostering. And the way to provide this is to have people ready and trained to provide this trauma therapy.
Through the UkrainianOrphanProject, we are working with psychologists in Kyiv, Bila Tserkva and Kopyliv to help specifically with training in complex trauma related to these orphans.
